The endless possibility of ways to represent the world around us is what drives me to create art. The visual elements of color, value, shape, form and texture can be manipulated and used however needed to depict a subject in a certain way. In painting, the process of creating work is just as important as the end result. The discovery of new techniques and how the oil medium behaves is never ending. The tactile quality of the paint and other added mediums and how they create an interesting surface is an element I find interesting. Evident brushwork in a painting reflects part of the process that it took to make that piece. I have always been a visual person and have been fascinated with visually communicating my ideas. In Spring 2007 I will be graduating from Spokane Falls Community College with an AFA degree. I plan to pursue a BFA in graphic design from Eastern Washington University beginning this fall.
